Molitor is at the western edge of the 16th arrondissement, beside the sports grounds around Roland-Garros, Stade Jean-Bouin and the Parc des Princes. The hotel’s 124 rooms and suites occupy the complex around the outdoor pool. Yellow walls, blue cabin doors and white galleries give the central courtyard its distinctive appearance.
Jean-Philippe Nuel designed the accommodation with a calmer, contemporary palette. The categories differ in outlook as well as size: a Deluxe room faces the pool, while a Superior or standard Executive room may face the city. The Executive room with a porthole window is a separate category, and a terrace also requires a specific booking.
Swimming is central to a stay here. The hotel has a heated indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool, and its room page guarantees access to at least one pool throughout the year. Spa by Clarins offers treatments and a hammam; the sports club adds studios and training equipment. Restaurant Molitor, Bar Bikini and the seasonal rooftop provide several settings for a meal or a drink.

History & cultural connections
From swimming baths to a hotel around the pools
Molitor opened in 1929 as the Piscine Molitor Grands Établissements Balnéaires d’Auteuil, designed by Lucien Pollet. It joined an established group of sports facilities in western Paris, including Roland-Garros, Stade Jean-Bouin and the Parc des Princes. The baths provided indoor and outdoor swimming, while restaurants, a bar and other services made the complex a place to spend the day.[1]
Social events soon became part of Molitor’s life. Its history records an artists’ gala in 1931 and an annual Fête de l’Eau from 1934. By the 1970s, however, the business and building were in difficulty. Failing filtration, chlorine damage to the concrete and a glass roof needing repair contributed to the problems. The complex closed in 1989 when the operating lease ended.[1]
The empty baths became a setting for graffiti, photography, concerts and parties. Artists worked on the walls and in the drained pools, turning the abandoned structure into an informal studio. A redevelopment tender followed in 2007. When construction began in 2011, the damaged foundations and concrete required extensive demolition; the hotel identifies the rotunda and the entrance at 2 avenue de la Porte Molitor as the parts that could be saved.[1]
Molitor reopened on May 19, 2014, with the pools reconstructed to recover their earlier forms, railings, mosaics and colors. The new hotel brought 124 rooms and suites designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel around the outdoor pool. Artists associated with the abandoned site were invited back, and works in the indoor-pool cabins and hotel interiors preserve a connection to the years between the baths’ closure and the hotel’s opening.[1]
