Hôtel du Collectionneur occupies a substantial modern property on rue de Courcelles, near Parc Monceau in the 8th arrondissement. Its design looks back to decorative arts and ocean liners of the 1920s and 1930s. An 800 m² open-air garden gives the hotel a sheltered outdoor center, surrounded by pale stone facades and curved architectural details.

The room collection ranges from 30 m² Deluxe and Prestige rooms to suites with separate living areas. Specific categories offer garden views, balconies or an Eiffel Tower view; these features do not apply to every room. Double-double rooms have two double beds and accommodate up to four people, making them a practical option for families.

The hotel combines a French restaurant and bar with a spa, indoor pool and fitness room. Pool and spa access depends on the booking channel: the official site advertises complimentary access for direct reservations, while the current Booking.com page explicitly excludes it. Check the terms of the rate you choose rather than assuming access is included.

History & cultural connections

A modern hotel shaped by Art Deco design

The hotel takes its name from Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann’s Hôtel du Collectionneur at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris. Ruhlmann created that pavilion for an imaginary collector, bringing furniture, decorative objects and architecture into a coordinated domestic setting. The present hotel uses that idea as a design reference; it does not occupy the exhibition pavilion.[1][2]

The current hotel’s design project dates to 2004. In a release marking its tenth anniversary in 2014, the hotel credited Jacques Garcia, Alexandre Danan, Stanislas Fiszer and Olivier Riols with its conception and decoration. The interiors were intended to recall the luxury ocean liners of the 1930s, giving a newly created hotel a vocabulary drawn from an earlier period of travel.[1]

That approach extended beyond decorative motifs. The anniversary release describes Art Deco facades around an Andalusian patio, a glass pergola and a monumental staircase based on plans for ocean-liner stairways. It also names woods such as Brazilian rosewood, Macassar ebony and amaranth, along with ceramics and shagreen-inspired details. Furniture and objects were acquired at auctions to reinforce the idea of a collector’s surroundings.[1]

The hotel continues to revise that design language. Its current Prestige rooms pair renovated interiors with alabaster headboards, while the new Art Deco Spa adds an 18-meter swimming pool, sauna and steam room. The central garden remains a defining part of the property. These current features belong to the hotel’s ongoing development, rather than evidence that the building dates from the original Art Deco period.[3][4][2]
