Where to Stay near the Champs-Élysées

Compare five-star and Palace hotels around the Arc de Triomphe, on the side streets off the avenue, and in the Golden Triangle between avenue George-V and avenue Montaigne.

Stay near the Arc de Triomphe for the best transport links, with Métro lines 1, 2 and 6 and the RER A at Charles de Gaulle–Étoile. Choose avenue George-V or avenue Montaigne for the large Palace hotels and the fashion houses, or a side street such as rue de Berri or rue Vernet for a smaller five-star hotel.

See the hotels ↓

What staying near the Champs-Élysées is like

The Champs-Élysées runs 1.9 kilometers from place de la Concorde up to place Charles-de-Gaulle (Étoile), the square around the Arc de Triomphe. The hotels here are on the upper avenue, between the Arc and the Rond-Point, on the streets either side of it, and in the Golden Triangle, the streets enclosed by the Champs-Élysées, avenue George-V and avenue Montaigne.

Most hotels stand one or two blocks back from the avenue, on streets such as rue de Berri, rue Balzac, rue Vernet and rue François-Ier. Hôtel Fouquet's Paris, at the corner of avenue George-V, is the only one of these hotels with rooms that look onto the Champs-Élysées. The avenue is lined with flagship stores such as Louis Vuitton and Apple, and avenue Montaigne is the street of the Paris fashion houses.

The Grand Palais, the exhibition hall built for the World's Fair of 1900, is at the bottom of the avenue. On avenue Montaigne, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées is where Igor Stravinsky's ballet The Rite of Spring caused a riot at its premiere in 1913. F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald rented an apartment at 14 rue de Tilsitt, beside the Arc, in 1925.

Expect five-star prices. Almost every hotel compared here is rated five stars. The Hôtel du Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées has four, and Maison Bauchart does not publish a rating. Six hold France's Palace distinction, a rating above five stars: the Four Seasons Hotel George V, the Plaza Athénée, the Bvlgari, Fouquet's, Le Royal Monceau and The Peninsula.

Who this area suits

  • First-time visitors who want the Arc de Triomphe nearby and Métro line 1, which runs straight to the Louvre.
  • Travelers who want a pool and spa in the hotel. The Bvlgari has a 25-meter pool, Le Royal Monceau a 23-meter pool and The Peninsula a 20-meter pool.
  • Diners who want a Michelin-starred restaurant in the building. The Four Seasons Hotel George V has three, and the Plaza Athénée has La Grande Table.

Of the hotels compared here, only Hôtel du Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées is four-star, so travelers on a budget may find more choice in other areas. If you will spend most days on the Left Bank, in the Marais or in Montmartre, staying in one of those areas saves travel time.

Getting around

Métro line 1 runs under the avenue, with stations at Charles de Gaulle–Étoile, George V, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Champs-Élysées–Clemenceau. Heading east, it stops at Concorde, the Tuileries, Palais Royal–Musée du Louvre, Châtelet, Bastille and Gare de Lyon. Heading west, it runs to La Défense.

Charles de Gaulle–Étoile, under the Arc, is the main interchange. It also serves Métro lines 2 and 6 and the RER A, a fast regional line that stops at Châtelet–Les Halles and Gare de Lyon. Line 9 stops at Saint-Philippe-du-Roule, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Alma-Marceau, and Kléber station on line 6 is beside The Peninsula. Near the Seine, the RER C stops at Pont de l'Alma.

  • Charles de Gaulle Airport: take the RER B to Châtelet–Les Halles, then the RER A to Charles de Gaulle–Étoile. Hôtel Château des Fleurs puts the trip at about an hour by public transport, or 45 minutes by car.
  • Orly Airport: Hôtel Château des Fleurs gives about 50 minutes by public transport and 45 minutes by car.
  • Gare de Lyon: direct on Métro line 1 or the RER A.
  • Gare du Nord, where Eurostar trains from London arrive: Le Royal Monceau puts it 15 to 20 minutes away.

The tradeoffs

The city tourist tax rises with the rating. Hôtel Lancaster, a five-star, lists €11.70 per person per night, and the Plaza Athénée, a Palace, lists €15.93.

The avenue hosts the Bastille Day military parade every July 14 and draws large crowds on New Year's Eve. If you are arriving by taxi or car on those dates, ask your hotel about road closures.

Many hotels sell street-side and courtyard rooms as separate categories, so decide whether quiet or a view matters more. At Hôtel Lancaster, some rooms face rue de Berri and others an inner patio. At Hôtel Marignan Champs-Élysées and Hôtel Vernet, the entry-level rooms face the courtyard. Entry-level rooms can be small: Classic rooms are 15 m² at the Rond-Point and start at 16 m² at Monsieur George.

Do not assume a pool or spa. Hôtel Marignan Champs-Élysées and Hôtel San Régis have neither, Hôtel Vernet has only a fitness room, and Hôtel L'Aventure lists no spa, pool or gym.

Choosing a hotel by location

  • Around the Arc de Triomphe: Hôtel Napoléon, about 180 meters from Charles de Gaulle–Étoile station, has 96 rooms, 57 of them suites. Le Royal Monceau, on avenue Hoche, has 149 rooms, an indoor pool and a 99-seat cinema. On rue Vernet, Hôtel Château des Fleurs has 37 rooms and a small pool.
  • Across the Arc, in the 16th arrondissement: The Peninsula Paris has 200 rooms in the former Hôtel Majestic of 1908. Hôtel L'Aventure, opened in March 2026, has 15 rooms. Majestic Hôtel Spa, a separate hotel on rue La Pérouse, has kitchens in more than half its rooms.
  • Side streets north of the avenue: Hôtel Lancaster, on rue de Berri, has 54 rooms. Hôtel de Berri, on the same street, has 75 rooms and a private garden. Hôtel Balzac has 58 rooms and the chef Pierre Gagnaire's restaurant in the building. The Rond-Point, on rue de Ponthieu, has 36 rooms, a 13-meter pool and no restaurant.
  • Avenue George-V and the Golden Triangle: the Four Seasons Hotel George V is the largest hotel here, with 243 rooms. Prince de Galles, opened in 1929, is an Art Deco hotel with a mosaic courtyard. About three quarters of the Bvlgari's 76 rooms are suites.
  • Avenue Montaigne and toward the Seine: the Plaza Athénée has 208 rooms and a Dior spa. La Demeure Montaigne includes its indoor pool and spa with every booking. Hôtel San Régis, family-owned since 1984, has 42 rooms. Le Damantin, by the Seine, has 44 rooms and a 14-meter pool.

For a longer stay with a kitchen, compare La Clef Champs-Élysées, Majestic Hôtel Spa and Maison Bauchart, which has eight suites and apartments and two lofts. For families, Hôtel Château des Fleurs links connecting rooms for four to six guests, and the Four Seasons lets children stay free in their parents' room. Hôtel de Berri allows no rollaway beds, so families of three or four need a suite there.
