Prince de Galles sits on avenue George V, within the Golden Triangle and close to the Champs-Élysées. The hotel opened in 1929, and Art Deco remains its defining visual language. Its mosaic-lined patio provides an outdoor setting within the building, away from the avenue.
The room collection includes Art Deco doubles, balcony categories and suites with separate living areas. Marble bathrooms and mosaic details continue the period-inspired design. At the top of the collection, named suites add substantial living space, terraces or a distinctive collaboration with the French crystal maker Lalique.
Dining ranges from Akira Back’s contemporary Japanese cooking to the French bistro menu at Restaurant & Bar 19.20 by Norbert Tarayre. Le Patio provides another setting for a meal or drink. The wellness suite offers treatments, while the fitness center is open around the clock; the concierge team can help arrange the rest of a Paris stay.

History & cultural connections
Art Deco on avenue George V
Prince de Galles opened in 1929, at the height of the Art Deco period. The date remains central to the hotel’s identity: the present rooms and public spaces retain an emphasis on patterned surfaces, rich materials and geometric decoration. Its avenue George V address places that history within the Golden Triangle’s concentration of fashion and luxury hotels.[1]
The internal patio is one of the clearest expressions of the original design vocabulary. Thousands of mosaic pieces surround the courtyard, making it a distinctive architectural setting for meals and drinks. The same material returns in contemporary suite bathrooms, linking the shared spaces with the accommodation.[1][2]
The Suite Lalique by Patrick Hellmann represents a newer interpretation of that heritage. The hotel partnered with the French crystal house and the designer on a duplex suite that draws on Art Deco lines. Decorative glass is central to the suite’s design.[2]
The dining rooms also carry the hotel’s chronology into the present. Restaurant & Bar 19.20 uses the atmosphere and imagery of 1920s Paris, while Akira Back, opened here in 2022, introduced a contemporary Japanese restaurant with Korean and international influences. Together they show how the hotel has added new uses to its established setting.[1]
