History & cultural connections
A Parisian hotel redesigned by Studio Putman
The hotel’s present appearance took shape in a full renovation completed in 2013. Studio Putman worked with the architectural agency IGLOO on the project, keeping the Haussmann-style stone facade while changing the interiors. Sofitel presented the result as a Parisian home, with connected rooms for gathering and quieter spaces for privacy.[1][2]
Olivia Putman, Studio Putman’s artistic director, attended the inauguration of the renovated Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe in 2013. The rooms used blue tones and contemporary furniture. Public spaces connected the lobby, a fireplace lounge and a gallery leading to the restaurant. Studio Putman designed furniture and lighting specifically for the hotel.[1][2]
Dining was a central part of the 2013 reopening. L’Initial was then a 64-seat restaurant led by chef Thomas Bruno, whose menu drew on seasonal ingredients from local producers. José Da Rosa created his first bar and tearoom for a Paris hotel here, bringing together products from France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. These were the venues announced at the reopening; the hotel now lists Envies and Sorsi Bar.[1][3]
Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe reopened in 2013 with 124 rooms, including suites and two apartments. The renovation added adaptable meeting rooms and a fitness center. The current hotel retains the 124-room total, with apartments, family accommodation and event spaces.[1][3][2]
