The Paris Atlas · Beyond the booking

History & cultural connections

From laundry machinery to a Parisian maison

Maison Bréguet dates its creation to 2017, when former premises of a laundry-machine factory were converted into a hotel. That industrial past places the project within the working history of the 11th arrondissement, rather than the mansion and grand-hotel tradition of western Paris.[1]

The English design studio Sagrada shaped the interiors with the work of cabinetmakers, metalworkers and specialists in wood flooring. The conversion combines those craft skills with the idea of a welcoming house used by both visitors and Parisians.[1]

The ground-floor restaurant makes the industrial setting especially legible, using a large glass roof, warm colors, a terrace and a planted wall. The hotel’s social spaces were conceived for meals, drinks and meetings as well as overnight stays, continuing the building’s change from production space to neighborhood gathering place.[2][1]
