History & cultural connections
A telephone exchange finds a new use
SAX opened in April 2025 in a former telephone exchange dating from 1899. The avenue de Saxe building belonged to the infrastructure of a changing city long before it became a hotel. Its conversion introduced guest rooms and public spaces behind a distinctive historic frontage.[1]
The project marked the arrival of Hilton’s LXR collection in France. Inside, the hotel brought together 118 rooms and suites, restaurants, art and wellness facilities. Works by Claudia Ravnbo and Arik Levy contributed to the new interiors’ visual identity.[1]
The current hotel emphasizes spaces used throughout the day: a gallery, bar and garden lead to dining rooms and a rooftop restaurant. The transformation moves from the enclosed working world of the telephone exchange toward a hotel organized around leisure, food and views across Paris.[2]
