Hôtel Westminster places you on rue de la Paix in the jewellery district between Place Vendôme and the Palais Garnier. Its 102 rooms and suites sit behind a traditional Parisian façade, while restored interiors retain mouldings, parquet and marble fireplaces.
The atmosphere is formal and traditional. Duke’s Bar has the feel of an English club, with green leather seating and wood panelling; Le Céladon provides a separate dining room. The hotel suits travellers who want this established setting alongside recent renovation.
Room choice matters here. Superior categories cover shorter or solo stays; larger suites add living space and more decorative interiors. Some rooms face the street and others an inner courtyard. The hotel has a fitness area and offers massages by reservation, but its current wellness page gives conflicting information about steam-room availability.

History & cultural connections
An established address renewed
The hotel’s name recalls the Duke of Westminster, a link still expressed in the Duke’s Bar and the Duke of Westminster Suite. Its official history describes antique clocks, wood panelling and Belle Époque decoration as recurring features of the house. Warwick acquired the hotel in 1982, placing the rue de la Paix address within the group that operates it today.[1]
Duke’s Bar is one of the hotel’s enduring spaces. The hotel dates the bar’s role in Parisian social life to the 1920s. Its English-club character survives in the wood-panelled room and green leather furniture, giving the hotel a recognisable interior beyond its bedrooms.[2]
A four-year restoration led to the hotel’s fifth-star award, announced in October 2025. Interior architect Laurent Maugoust directed the renovation of the 102 rooms and suites. The work preserved nineteenth-century features, including mouldings, marble fireplaces and parquet, while updating the accommodation.[2]
The renewal also reached the public rooms. British designer Helen Stephens redesigned Le Céladon, while the hotel retained historic clocks associated with its collection and its London sister hotel, The Capital Hotel, Apartments & Townhouse. These choices connect the current interiors with the house’s established decorative identity.[2]
