History & cultural connections
Le Six’s 2018 renovation
Le Six reopened in 2018 after a renovation by architect Stéphane Renaud. A contemporary report in Domodeco describes the project as a reworking of a Haussmann-style building into a hotel arranged like a family home. Georges Bonneau, of Les Maisons de Georges, was its owner at the time.[1]
The renovation divided the shared spaces into a library bar, a large lounge, a smaller room by the fireplace and an alcove. Les Jardins de Gally created the winter garden. Together, these rooms gave guests places to read, work or sit away from their bedrooms.[1]
The same report records work by around fifteen craftspeople. Fabrics and wallpapers from Nobilis, Pierre Frey and Christian Lacroix for Designers Guild introduced leaves and branches alongside green and blue upholstery. Furniture came from makers including Fritz Hansen, Gubi and Cassina.[1]
The library remains part of the hotel today. Its collection focuses on French craftsmanship, photography and art, with newspapers and magazines also available. The hotel’s current services page still identifies the fireplace lounge and winter garden as spaces for guests.[2][3]
