About Hôtel Madame Rêve

A five-star hotel in the Louvre post-office building, with atelier-style windows, landmark-view terraces, a rooftop bar and warm wood-and-mosaic interiors.

Best for

  • Travelers who prioritize architecture, roofscape views and the central Louvre location.
  • Couples who want restaurants and a rooftop bar within the hotel.

Know before you book

Room names combine layout and view. A Garden View room does not promise an Eiffel Tower or monument outlook. Reserve the exact view and terrace category you want.

Madame Rêve occupies part of the monumental Louvre post-office building in the 1st arrondissement. Its address on rue du Louvre is convenient for the Louvre, Palais Royal and Les Halles. The hotel’s rooms turn attention upward, with broad windows framing roofs, churches and monuments or opening toward a planted interior garden.

View and outdoor space are central to choosing a room here. The collection separates Garden, Paris, Eiffel Tower and Exceptional View accommodation. Atelier rooms use expansive glazing, while Terrace categories provide an outdoor setting. Golden-brown wood and small mosaic tiles give the interiors a warmer character than the large windows might suggest.

The hotel has several distinct places to eat and drink: the Madame Rêve Restaurant, La Plume and ROOF. Its wellness area includes treatment rooms, fitness equipment and a sauna. For the most residential stay, the 130 m² Penthouse adds a wraparound terrace, a private sauna and a glass-roofed bathroom.

History & cultural connections

A new hotel above the Louvre post office

The Louvre post office opened in 1888, according to the hotel’s account of the neighborhood. Madame Rêve occupies part of that large civic building, whose stone facades still anchor the corner of rue du Louvre. The shift from postal infrastructure to a place to stay is the essential architectural story of the address.[1]

Madame Rêve opened in October 2021. Its operator credits Dominique Perrault Architecture with the architectural project and Laurent Taïeb with artistic direction alongside a group of collaborators. The hotel’s elevated rooms and outdoor spaces turn a formerly institutional building into a place from which to look across the city.[2]

Pierre Frey’s project record explains the interior work in concrete terms: Laurent Taïeb combined precious woods and honey-colored marble with golden-brown woven textiles. The textile house also made custom furniture for the hotel. Its account identifies the name as a nod to Alain Bashung’s song, giving the project a cultural reference beyond the building’s postal past.[3]

The current Atelier room layouts carry the design idea into the stay itself. Their broad glazing and warm wood interiors treat Paris as part of the room, while the mosaic bathrooms use a more enclosed, intimate scale. The Penthouse continues that approach with a wraparound terrace and a glass-roofed bathroom facing the city.[4]
