History & cultural connections
A new hotel built around books and the name Salvia
Hôtels Paris Rive Gauche announced Hôtel Salvia in June 2025, with an opening planned for that fall. The project introduced 39 rooms and a literary café on rue Cujas. The hotel now operates at 16 rue Cujas.[1][2]
Salvia is the Latin name for sage. The hotel group used the plant as a starting point for the name and interiors, describing sage greens and pale pinks alongside burgundy, blue and wood. The name belongs to this modern hotel project.[1]
Books are part of the hotel’s daily service. The literary café pairs a hot drink with a surprise book, selected with Librairie Pedone. Children can have hot chocolate with a book of their own. It gives the hotel a practical connection to the Latin Quarter’s bookshops.[3]
