History & cultural connections
A 2021 redesign brought the garden inside
Jardin de Cluny’s present appearance comes from a complete renovation in 2021. Lighting supplier EBB & FLOW identifies the project as the work of Julie Gauthron and Deltabuy. The designers combined botanical wall coverings, natural materials and rattan furniture to give the hotel its garden-like interior.[1]
Lighting is a particular part of that design. The lobby combines the supplier’s Rowan, Futura and Horizon glass and crystal pendants. In the bedrooms, coloured Horizon wall lights were chosen to work with each room’s decoration. The result is a coordinated interior rather than the same neutral room repeated throughout the building.[1]
The hotel’s environmental programme predates the redesign. Its own account dates the programme to 2008 and describes monitoring water and energy use, limiting food waste and selecting organic or fair-trade supplies.[2]
