Camille Pissarro's eldest son, who carried Neo-Impressionism to England and ran the Eragny Press.
Lucien Pissarro was the eldest of Camille Pissarro's children and the one who took the family trade furthest. He trained under his father, absorbed the divided brushwork his father was experimenting with in the 1880s, and settled in England in 1890.
There he became the link between French Neo-Impressionism and British art, painting landscapes and founding the Eragny Press, named for the village where the family lived. The press printed illustrated books in the Arts and Crafts manner, wood-engraved and hand-set, and it is as much of his legacy as the paintings. Five of his brothers and sisters also worked as artists.
