About Hôtel d’Aubusson
Hôtel d’Aubusson sits on rue Dauphine between the Seine and the Luxembourg Gardens. Café Laurent forms a distinctive part of the hotel, with jazz evenings and a lounge setting for a drink after a day on the Left Bank.
The hotel lists 44 rooms and suites, from Superior rooms to larger suites and duplex accommodation. Walnut flooring, warm colours and contemporary fittings give the bedrooms their character; the Duplex Loft separates its bedroom and living space over two levels.

History & cultural connections
A writer’s Paris base above the memory of Le Tabou
The hotel traces its main building to the seventeenth-century Hôtel de Mouy and records the name Grand Hôtel d’Aubusson in documents from 1901. Exposed beams and a substantial stone fireplace remain part of its account of the house. The address has a much longer story than its present rooms and fittings.[1]
In April 1947, Le Tabou opened in the cellar beneath Café Laurent at 33 rue Dauphine. The City of Paris records Boris Vian playing there with his brothers and Juliette Gréco reciting poems by Raymond Queneau. This was a place of performance, dancing and late-night encounters in postwar Saint-Germain. Today’s Café Laurent hosts jazz in a lounge upstairs from the former cellar setting.[2][3][4]
Crime writer Harlan Coben described d’Aubusson as his regular Paris base. In a March 2008 interview with Le Journal du Dimanche, he explained that his publisher had first booked him a room here and that he kept returning, alone or with his family. He said he wrote at the hotel too, drafting by hand in a notebook. He was then planning to bring his fictional detective Myron Bolitar to the same address.[5]
