About Esprit Saint Germain
Esprit Saint Germain takes the form of a small Parisian house between boulevard Saint-Germain and the Luxembourg Gardens. Its 28 rooms and suites give the hotel an intimate scale, with a choice of connecting rooms and apartment accommodation for guests who need more space.
The rooms have individual decorative touches, from selected artworks to exposed beams in some categories. Classic, Superior and Deluxe rooms offer a compact base for two; the larger Suite Club adds a separate living room and two bathrooms.
The library lounge hosts breakfast and the bar, while a second sitting room centres on a fireplace. A private wellness space combines fitness equipment with a hammam, and massages or personal training can be arranged by appointment.

A Parisian house reimagined in 2004
Esprit Saint Germain’s present identity began in 2004, when Laurence Tafanel opened the hotel on rue Saint-Sulpice. A contemporary travel report records the transformation of an earlier two-star hotel; a later interview with Tafanel describes a three-year renovation bringing together two older buildings. The small scale of the address became the starting point for its new character.[1][2]
Tafanel grew up around the corner. In the interview, she explained that she wanted to make the kind of place she would enjoy staying in herself, with shared sitting rooms where guests could settle down and talk. The library, fireplace and residential atmosphere grew out of that personal idea of hospitality.[2]
The hotel dates its next complete renovation to 2021. Its rooms and lounges were renewed while retaining the private-house approach: an intimate place to return to after a day in Saint-Germain.[3]
