Spoiler-freeJanine is a Handmaid trained with Offred and Moira. The Aunts pressure her into publicly accepting blame for a gang rape. As Ofwarren, she gives birth in a ritualized household ceremony, but the baby is later said to be unhealthy and disappears from the narrative. Janine survives the Salvaging sequence in a psychologically fragile condition; her later fate in the novel is not stated.
