Setting of the story
Down and Out in Paris and London
The lodging house of the Paris chapters is the Hôtel des Bons Amis at 6 rue du Pot de Fer, where Orwell lived from 1928 to 1929. He renames the street the rue du Coq d'Or and the hotel the Hôtel des Trois Moineaux, and the book opens on it.
