Met
A friendship of the movement's core: the Met records Renoir among the friends who gathered at Monet's homes and gardens and often painted alongside their host.
Collaborated with · 1869
In September 1869 the two painted side by side at La Grenouillère, a bathing and boating spot on the Seine, working the same views in quick broken strokes. The Met credits the campaign with catalyzing the Impressionist aesthetic; the Nationalmuseum counts the paired canvases among the first fully Impressionist pictures.
